Having a Knowledgeable Counselor is Important
Research suggests that up to 80% of the effectiveness of counseling has to do with how the client feels about the relationship with the counselor. Therefore, it is vitally important to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable! Feeling safe and comfortable during sessions helps you gain skills and insights that can help you manage depression. My approach is warm, inclusive, and person-centered. I enjoy working with people to gain insights and skills to help them create the life they want. We all have a history and have struggled with something during our life. It is the life we create from our struggles that defines us. I enjoy working collaboratively with people and am open to feedback. My goal is to help you feel comfortable in treatment to feel comfortable sharing openly and working toward your goals.
How Long Does Treatment Last?
The length of depression treatment varies considerably based on the individual and their circumstances. Treatment length is based on progress toward goals and each situation. Everyone goes at their own pace, and that’s okay. Generally, 12-24 sessions is an average treatment length. The more practice you can incorporate outside of treatment is an essential factor in reducing the total length of treatment. If treatment length concerns you, let’s discuss this in your first session to develop a plan that meets your needs.
